Medicare Supplement EFT to resume
Effective Tuesday, November 17, 2009, BCBSNC providers participating in BCBSNC electronic funds transfer (EFT) will begin to receive EFT for Medicare Supplemental claim payments. EFT for Medicare Supplemental was suspended January 1, 2009. If you are a current BCBSNC EFT participant you are automatically enrolled in the EFT for Medicare Supplemental claim payments and no further action is required.
Providers not currently participating in BCBSNC EFT have the option to sign-up for electronic funds transfer (EFT) on-line with Blue e. This sign-up alternative makes it easier for providers to receive the fastest receipt of eligible payments for their BCBSNC claim submissions including the Medicare Supplemental product line. Once we have received and processed a claim, EFT payment is sent directly to the bank account of your designation. Payments are sent through an automated clearing house and typically take up to two days to post, which is a much faster process than a conventional check cycle and our mailing to your bank to process and deposit. An EFT overview is available for viewing from your Blue e Home page under the Administration tab. You are encouraged to view the Help link to familiarize yourself with this added functionality.
Providers are encouraged to select an individual and a back-up for the EFT administration role. This is a distinct role and should be managed with utmost scrutiny from a financial risk management perspective. Only your designated EFT user will see the EFT transaction on their Blue e Home page. To sign-up online, please complete the following steps. On the Blue e Home Page, select "Manage Account" under the Administration tab, then select "Add User." Enter the name of the designated person, check "Access Electronic Funds Transfer Only" and click submit. If your organization is a self-administered site, please fax the request to 919-765-7101 to add the EFT role to your account." The Entity Administrator can then set-up an individual with the EFT role.
Questions regarding EFT participation are available for your review in an on-line EFT frequently asked questions (FAQ) document. Other specific questions regarding participation may be directed to BCBSBC Financial Processing at 919-765-2293. BCBSNC offers EFT free of charge and set-up is completed within one business week. Providers are encouraged to verify with their financial institution if processing fees apply. Electronic funds transfer is not currently available for the Federal Employee Program (FEP).
