Release Date: November 12, 2012
As part of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association’s Blue international strategy, the BlueWorldWide Expat product, offered to members working and living abroad, will be replaced by GeoBlue (Worldwide Insurance Services) effective December 1, 2012. The last date of coverage for expatriates under the Expat product will be November 30, 2012.
The Blue System provides three separate offerings for international travelers and expatriates:

- GeoBlue—a Blue-branded licensee administering international coverage as of December 1, 2012
Please do not accept Blue ID cards with the alpha prefix “EXF” after November 30, 2012. Claims for services rendered after this date will not be covered. For services rendered on or before November 30, submit claims by April 1, 2013.
Remember, to ensure eligibility and benefits for Blue Plan members other than Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina members, always verify patient coverage prior to rendering services by using one of your e-options or by calling 1-800-676-BLUE.
