Frequently asked questions
Adding or changing your billing address helps you manage how Blue Cross NC contacts you. Typically, any changes you make will be processed within 48 hours.
To begin changing your billing address:
Step 1: Log in to the member portal.
Step 2: Select "Billing and payments" from the member portal home page.
Step 3: Select "Edit billing preferences."
Note: You won't have a billing preferences section if your plan is managed by your employer.
In the member portal, you’ll see your payment options in your billing preferences. There, you can pay your premium using a one-time payment method or you can sign up for automatic payments.
If you choose to make a one-time payment online, you’ll have the option to still receive paper bills.
When you sign up for automatic payments, you will be enrolled in paperless delivery and receive an email each time your bill is ready online. Usually, billing notices are sent five days before the next month starts.
To sign up for automatic payments, select the "AutoPay" option in billing preferences. You must use a bank account to enroll. Credit and debit cards can't be used to set up automatic payments.
Note: You won't see a billing preferences section if your plan is managed by your employer.
Yes. Your member ID card(s) will continue to be mailed regardless of going paperless.
However, if your insurance is through your employer, some employers may decide to not mail ID cards every year. Employers may decide not to mail member ID cards annually if you didn't make changes to your policy.
Please reach out to your employer's HR department or group administrator to find out if this is the case for your group.
Sometimes Blue Cross NC uses third party providers to enhance your health experience. These are trusted partners. While we do not share your protected health information (PHI) with them, they might have access to your email if you opt in.
Once opted in, you will need to make contact preferences known to our partner because we don't share preference data with vendors.
If your email is unverified or your email address contains spelling errors, your paperless delivery or contact preferences might not be saved.
To make sure your email address is correct and to verify your email, visit the Contact Preferences Center in the member portal.
We recommend that you use your personal email address over a work-related one in case you change your employer.
Also, using your personal email address will help you reset your member portal password easily, if needed.
