Understanding digital health tools
Knowing how to access and use telehealth benefits is important to your well-being. At Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC), we want to make sure our members understand digital health care options, allowing you to get the care you need through the most secure and convenient means.
To help put you at ease, we've partnered with Northstar Digital Literacy (Northstar), an industry leader in tech education. Northstar can help you gauge your knowledge and comfort level when it comes to using telehealth and other digital health benefits. They then offer tailored lessons to give you the confidence you need to take the next step. This service is trusted, safe, convenient – and available at NO COST to you.
Getting started with Northstar
You'll then have the option to create a "learner account" if you choose,* which will give you access to a wide range of lessons and education from Northstar. This program / material is at NO COST to you.
Simply click, "Sign up as a learner," and provide your First Name, Last Name, and Email Address.
*If you prefer to get started without setting up a learner account, you can enter your test-taker name only to access an assessment to help you better understand your comfort with digital health tools.
Northstar's website includes helpful resources if needed, or you can reach out to DigitalLiteracy@bcbsnc.com.
The goal: Getting you comfortable with telehealth
Telehealth, sometimes called telemedicine, lets your provider care for you without an in-person office visit. It’s like any other doctor’s appointment – but done primarily online with internet access on your computer, tablet, or smartphone.
It’s easy to connect, and it can save you time! There's no traffic, no crowded waiting rooms, and no fuss.
Become a telehealth pro! Blue Cross NC and Northstar are here to help.
