We're committed to helping everyone reach their full health potential. Health care needs differ from person to person, and from community to community.

Improving health must go beyond only offering quality care. It requires listening and collaborating to make it easier for North Carolinians to find services like mental health care, maternal support, and infant care, no matter where they live. It also requires provider incentives to move into rural and underserved communities.

We’re using data, technology, and strong relationships across the state to better understand what North Carolinians need to live their healthiest lives. And then we’re making sure those insights lead to real change, from more affordable coverage across North Carolina to better access to care.

Our investments and partnerships with underserved communities are working to improve:

• Maternal health by increasing the number of doulas and community health workers. We aim to improve outcomes by 50%.
• Mental health by boosting access to education and outreach in communities that have limited support resources by 25%.
• Food security by increasing child, adult, and senior access to nutritious food in high-poverty and rural areas.
• Diabetes by increasing Type 2 diabetes awareness through educational programming and community resources.
• Economic mobility by supporting organizations working to build North Carolina's workforce, especially in health care fields.
