What is Blue e?

Blue e is an Internet-based application for verification of membership eligibility, claims submission and inquiry. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) provides this service free-of-charge. Health care providers that have completed the Blue e Interactive Network Agreement can access Blue e for the following features:

  • Eligibility Inquiry
  • Search by Name for BCBSNC Member Identification Numbers
  • Medicaid Eligibility Inquiry
  • Claims Status Inquiry
  • Claims Entry
  • Batch 837 Transaction Claim Denial Listings
  • Remittance Check Register
  • Admission Notification and Inquiry

Monday - Sunday: 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.*

Signing up for Blue e

Signing up for Blue e is easy!

  1. Complete the Blue e Interactive Network Agreement online. Agreements and templates should be signed and completed by authorized practice personnel, including managers, providers, or owners.
  2. After your BCBSNC field consultant receives your completed forms, eSolutions will execute the agreement and return a copy to you.
  3. The BCBSNC eSolutions field consultant for your area will contact you to provide you with your username and password, and instructions to utilize the system. You can expect to be using Blue e within two weeks of our receipt of the completed Interactive Network Agreement.

If your site already has an existing Blue e account, please see the section below (How to add users or providers to your Blue e account). You will only need to complete the Additional User ID or Provider ID Request Form. You can expect to receive your additional user information within one week of our receipt of the completed form.


How to add users or providers to your Blue e account

If you already use Blue e and want to add new users or providers to your account, you'll need to complete and sign the forms below. We will contact you with new User ID's and passwords within five business days of receipt of your request forms.

Updates to Blue e

Blue e updates and system status messages are available on the Blue e user's Home Page and on the What's New page. A Blue e User's Manual is also available to providers who subscribe to Blue e.
