| BCBSNC Centers of Excellence
The BCBSNC Centers of Excellence program recognizes top-performing specialty doctors and health care facilities that meet strict national quality standards. Centers are fully-accredited, full-service facilities which have proven experience performing procedures, and which have demonstrated consistent high quality in several categories, including: delivery of care; patient safety; favorable patient outcomes and reduced complications rates. By recognizing top-performing facilities, the Centers of Excellence program draws attention to proven specialty care resources and encourages the use of proven specialty care delivery standards. Adherence to proven delivery standards should result in reduced complications from treatment and surgery and ultimately lead to better managed costs for members and employers. By promoting designated centers to our members, BCBSNC hopes to assist members in making well-informed specialty care decisions and to increase overall member engagement in better health. The Centers of Excellence program initiated with Bariatric Surgery Centers of Excellence, and was recently enhanced to include Cardiac Centers of Excellence.
