Letter from the Chairman

The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation (BCBSNC Foundation) is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of North Carolinians. That is an ambitious goal, and we know that no single entity can do it alone. Achieving success requires a combination of statewide, regional and community efforts led by state and local leaders.

We recognize that every community is unique, with its own set of health-related issues. Successfully addressing our statewide and community health care needs requires collaboration, innovation and dedication. The BCBSNC Foundation is committed to being a significant partner in this endeavor.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina established the BCBSNC Foundation in November 2000 to ensure that we would always have the resources available to contribute to improving the health of North Carolinians, during times of financial challenge as well as financial success. Through the awarding of more than $30 million in grants and the development and implementation of our signature programs and special initiatives, we remain committed to positively impacting the health of North Carolinians.

In my work across the state, I am inspired by the efforts of dedicated leaders and organizations that are making a tremendous difference in their communities. At the BCBSNC Foundation, we look forward to continuing to support those efforts for many years to come.
