National Committee for Quality Assurance
The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) is an independent, not-for-profit organization that evaluates and reports on the quality of the nation's managed care plans. NCQA's accreditation program helps employers and consumers compare health plans based on various quality measures.
Health plans that choose to participate in this voluntary process are subject to a set of demanding standards and performance measures. Following a rigorous review, including both on- and off-site evaluations, a physician oversight committee analyzes the review team's findings and assigns an accreditation level.
BCBSNC was reaccredited by NCQA in April 2011. The Plan earned a "Commendable" accreditation status, which applies to our Blue OptionsSM PPO product.
