Self-Administered Drug List Changes effective August 9th
Release Date: July 5, 2012
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) is making changes to the Self-Administered Drug List effective August 9, 2012. These changes will impact all commercial members who current take these Self-Administered medications, and are outlined below:
Certain self-administered drugs are ONLY covered under the prescription drug benefit and are excluded from BCBSNC's medical benefit. While members have the freedom to self-administer these medications, they can still obtain these medications at the pharmacy and take them to their doctor's office, where they can receive training on how to self-administer them. The following self-administered medications are covered under BCBSNC's prescription drug benefit but are EXCLUDED from the medical benefit.
The Self-Administered Drug list has been updated and has been attached for your review; this listing is also available for download from the Pharmacy page on the BCBSNC Provider Portal Web site at https://www.bcbsnc.com/content/services/formulary/injectmed.htm.
