How to View Other Blue Plans' Medical Policies and Precertification Requirements
Since October 2010, North Carolina providers have been able to view medical policies and precertification requirements for other Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) Plans via our corporate medical policy page. We wanted to remind you of the availability of this information, as it will make it easier for you to treat patients from other BCBS Plans.
Along with other Plans’ medical policies, you’ll be able to access general precertification and preauthorization requirements, along with contact information with the other BCBS Plans to assist you with your requests. Just select the type of information you need, enter the patient’s alpha prefix, and you’ll be routed to the patient’s BCBS Home Plan’s medical policy and prior review site. When you’re done, you’ll be reconnected with the BCBSNC website.
Please note that this router is not applicable to patients enrolled in Medicare Advantage plans or the Federal Employee Program.
If you have any questions, please contact us via the Provider Blue LineSM at 1-800-214-4844.
