New HEDIS Tools Available to Help With Quality Measures
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) has helpful HEDIS-related provider tools online that provide you with details about each measure, including how you should correctly code claims in order to get the maximum credit for the quality work you do and improve your HEDIS quality scores.
For your convenience, you can download these materials online or click on “order helpful tools,” if you would prefer to have free, printed copies of any of the toolkit materials mailed to you. Just submit your request via this link to BCBSNC, and we’ll be glad to fulfill your print orders free of charge.
We’ve recently added five new online tools to assist you with the following HEDIS measures:
- Spirometry testing for patients with COPD
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)—Follow-up care for children prescribed ADHD medication
- COPD-appropriate medications prescribed after an acute exacerbation
- Colorectal cancer screening
- Childhood weight, nutrition counseling, and physical activity assessment for children and adolescents
These new tools and 11 other HEDIS-related provider tools are available online for your convenience and reference. Just enter the keyword “Toolkits” in the search field of www.bcbsnc.com, or type in http://www.bcbsnc.com/content/providers/toolkit/index.htm.
Once you’re there, choose “Improving HEDIS Scores,” which will give you a drop-down list of the HEDIS measures and corresponding resource tools. You will be able to review the details about these specific HEDIS measures, as well as access information about how to code claims correctly in order to receive the appropriate HEDIS credit for the services in question. Our goal is to make the information available that you need to better understand the HEDIS measures, so you can get the HEDIS credit you deserve for the care you provide to our members.
