HHS Announces Intent to Delay ICD-10 Compliance Date

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced intent to delay the ICD-10 compliance date of October 1, 2013.  There is a great deal of speculation and many unknowns at this point as to what the announcement really means (or how a delay might be implemented).  HHS is initiating a formal review process that could take up to 180 days.

After discussing this with industry leaders, as well as Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) senior leadership, BCBSNC has decided to continue to move forward with our existing plan for compliance by October 1, 2013.  We will continue to monitor the industry for further updates.
