Behavioral Health Access to Care Survey

Please note: This survey should only be completed by BCBSNC network participating Mental Health providers providing care to PPO members.    

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) is committed to delivering innovative health care products, services and information to help our customers improve their overall health and well-being.  Together with you, we are working to improve the patient care system within our State.  As part of this commitment we look to ensure that BCBSNC members have access to affordable and quality-driven behavioral health care services. 

BCBSNC in conjunction with the Physician Advisory Group has established access to care standards to monitor the accessibility of behavioral health care services for our members enrolled in our PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) products.  Additionally, BCBSNC is an accredited participant of the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and is subject to a set of demanding standards and performance measures, including set requirements for reporting member accessibility to behavioral health care providers and services. 

You are being asked as a provider participating in BCBSNC’s PPO network to provide BCBSNC with information about access to care for our PPO members when they seek care within your behavioral health care organization. 

The purpose of the survey is to collect information on access to care among our PPO network behavioral health providers on three standards:

  • Care access for a non-life-threatening emergency within six hours
  • Urgent care access within 48 hours
  • Appointment wait-time for a routine office visit (scheduled within 10 business days of an appointment request).

Please respond to our online survey by logging on at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/BCBSNCBehHlthAccesstoCareSurvey or by accessing our survey links available on the Web site www.bcbsnc.com/providers and the Blue e provider tool.  We have kept the survey short and your anticipated completion time should take no more than five minutes.

Thank you for your assistance and we appreciate your cooperation to help us gain this necessary member-access information.  BCBSNC annually analyzes this data to measure performance against standards for access to behavioral health care services.
