Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) reserves the right to implement system edits to apply correct coding guidelines for CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-9 diagnosis and procedure codes. System edits are in place to enforce and assist in a consistent claim review process. The coding edits reflect BCBSNC Medical Coverage Guidelines, benefit plans, and/or other BCBSNC policies. Unbundling, mutually exclusive procedures, duplicate, obsolete, or invalid codes are identified through the use of coding edits.
