Prescriptions by Mail

The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina mail order prescription program is provided through PrimeMail  , which offers you the convenience of receiving up to a 90-day supply of medication delivered to you with free standard shipping.

If your member ID card has Prime Therapeutics on the back, you are eligible for this benefit.

You should continue to get your short-term prescriptions, such as antibiotics, from your local pharmacy where you may pay less if you only need a one-month supply.

Getting Started

Register with PrimeMail
To receive your medications from PrimeMail, you must first register.  It’s fast and easy to register with PrimeMail. There are three convenient options.

  • Online – Register online by going to MyPrimeMail.com
  • Telephone – Call PrimeMail at 1-877-277-5457 (TTY users 711) and a member service representative will help get you started.
  • Mail – Complete the refill or new prescription order form and mail to

Send in Your Prescription
Once you are registered, PrimeMail will need your prescription.  You can mail your prescription to PrimeMail, or have your doctor submit it by phone, fax, or electronically.

  • Mail - If you have a written prescription from your doctor, you can mail it with a completed refill or new prescription order form and your applicable mail copayment to:

Limitations, copayments, and restrictions may apply. You must be entitled to Medicare Part A and enrolled in Medicare Part B and must reside in the CMS-approved service area. You must continue to pay your Medicare Part B premium.

If you would like Medicare Advantage or Part D documents in a different language or format, or your coverage has ended and you need proof of coverage or a Certification of Health Insurance Coverage, you can call us 7 days a week, 8a.m. to 8 p.m.
