Impact of Health Care Reform on Providers
The passage of health care reform legislation set into motion major changes that will affect the entire health care community for years to come. While it may seem the primary focus of health care reform is directed toward health care consumers, the new law will also significantly impact health care providers of all types.
The new health care reform law includes provisions intended to lower costs, raise quality levels, enhance efficiency and achieve better medical outcomes for patients. Whether those goals will be met remains to be seen - and different professional organizations (state or national boards, institutes, etc.) certainly have a variety of perspectives on this - but health care reform is here, and change is on the horizon.
For health care providers, it’s important to understand the potential impacts tied to those changes, some of which are described in this section.
