New Social Security Number Reporting Requirements

Dear BCBSNC Group Administrators,
Effective this year, federal law (Section 111 of the Medicare Modernization and SCHIP Extension Act) mandates certain changes in reporting of insurance coverage for Medicare beneficiaries, specifically when group health plans are primary to Medicare.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) is required to report Social Security Numbers for all reported enrollees with effective dates of January 1, 2009 and forward.
